Ready For 2023

It’s February and we are back and ready to go and make more money for more good causes than ever before!

If you’ve enquired or booked us before you’ll know that this isn’t the main job for Darren, who runs Ace Pig Racing. Darren is actually a professional magician and entertainer and so December is a very busy month on that front. Then January is a month to recover and get things back up to speed. In short, it means we only take Pig Racing bookings for 10 months of the year from February until November!

To be honest, January just isn’t a great time to do a fundraising event anyway! At Ace Pig Racing we will always try our best to do two things… Raise as much money as we can for your cause and make sure everyone has a great time along the way. If we had an enquiry for January (and we do get them!) I’d try and suggest moving the event back. It’s cold, it’s post Christmas and it is hard to advertise a January event in December up against all the other festive noise. That’s not even considering the cost of living and how that impacts on people’s spare income and their ability to donate to your good cause.

If you push back to February and March then the nights get lighter, the weather gets warmer and people are ready to go to events, have fun and spend money which will ultimately help you reach your goal.

At Ace Pig Racing we’ve been running events since 1999 so this is the start of our 25th year (we have a plan to mark the anniversary when it comes around with something fun!) and we’ve learnt a thing or two, which we always try to pass on.

The boy in green, that’s Darren at our first ever event in 1999. Don’t worry he wasn’t running the business back then, but he was helping out!

Things have changed a lot since then but events still boil down to getting as many people to the event as you can and hoping that they spend money on the night. With the betting booth each £1 spent is split equally between winnings back to winning punters and money for your fundraising goal. So if 10 people spend £10 you’d make £5 and if 100 spend £100 you’d make £50. We make sure it’s a fantastic evening of fun along the way but that is the TLDR when it comes to making money. Ace Pig Racing charge a set fee to attend the event but we don’t take a single penny from any betting or auctions on the night, that’s ALL for the good cause.
